Sometimes life throws you a curve ball

Today started out as a personal day.

We first took my car in for some minor repairs. I kept having to refill the windshield wiper fluid. I finally noticed that as I was pouring it in it was dripping out the bottom. Clearly Lucy II had developed a leak. Also my right turn signal had started to double time. Amigo Tire and Auto was great. In a couple of hours they had repaired the leak and also topped off the other fluids. The double timing blinker turns out to be indicative of a broken indicator light. Who knew? I sure didn’t. They fixed that as well.

We had also taken my heavy down in to have some holes repaired. I must have snagged it on something (stay on the trail?) and I was shedding feathers. I picked that up from the seamstress who provided a 24 hour turn-around.

I had some lovely spa services at Ojo Caliente , Santa Fe location. As I was leaving, D, the friend with whom I’m staying, texted to say he was headed to the ER to check for a possible infection in a recently operated hand. We had planned to head out tomorrow for an overnight expedition to a remote area. Instead we are at the hospital where he is having surgery to clean it out. It is a good thing we had not already left.

His other family members are out of town or otherwise unavailable. So tag I’m it. I’m genuinely glad I could be available to help. These friends are family to me.

Every person on the team at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center - from the surgeon to the anesthetist - to the nurses - was great. We both felt very comfortable he was receiving great care. The surgery was a success and he is resting comfortably - well as comfortably as one can in a hospital bed.
