This morning I traveled from Richmond to Roanoke. I hopped on the Blue Ridge Parkway at its most northernly point, at Aston, and drove the Parkway the rest of the way. This was a very different experience than we had in the Asheville, NC area. It was a week later, much of this stretch was at a lower elevation, and of course I was a bit further North. All told, for much of the drive the trees were more leafed out, which makes for boring images. On the plus side, the Rhododendron, Azalea, Trillium and other wildflowers are in full bloom.
I will explore more of the Blue Ridge Parkway tomorrow.
