This morning I left the wonderful hospitality of M. and his family (human, canine, feline, avian, aquatic) and drove West to Ashville. I entered the Blue Ridge Parkway at Burnsville with the intention of spending the majority of the day photographic from the outlooks and side trails. However, I immediately encountered white-out conditions. It was raining, but that was not the problem. The fog obscured everything further away than about 30-50 yards. I walked a few short trails to attempt some short and medium range shots, but no luck from the overlooks at all. Finally, about 10-15 miles out from Ashville the heavy fog lifted and produced lovely etherial clouds grazing the tops of the landscape of saturated greens and yellows. So at least I got a few shots.
Tomorrow I will join an Art Wolfe workshop for a couple of days. Rain is still predicted but more intermittently, so I hope conditions will be better for photography. Stay tuned.
In other news, I hit Marriott Titanium Elite . I actually didn’t know there was anything after platinum.
