NYC to Hartford

Today I said goodbye to NYC and drove a couple of hours North to Hartford. I won’t lie, it was a full and successful week, but also a tiring and exhausting week. New York, the city that never sleeps, is no lie. I am looking forward to a slower pace this week.

My first stop, even before I checked in to my hotel was the Apple Store. Charging my computer battery had become unreliable and it was time to see what was the issue. Ariel took my information and started off the diagnostics. Ahmed, originally from Egypt, then took over. The diagnostics on both the computer and charger showed both devices checked out with no problems. We both suspected the connector ends of the charger cable, and indeed substituting the Apple Store cable seemed to solve the problem. I walked out with a $20 cable which hopefully will solve the problem. As much as I am coveting a new 16” M2, I’m not really in a position to purchase a new computer during this trip. Fingers crossed.

Also, recollect that, when I was in NJ, I signed up for EZPass which makes tolls on the entire East Coast seamless. The problem is that the EZPass agency is very difficult to contact, and further that the physical transponder was being sent from NJ. Because I was unable to have any sort of real time dialogue with them, the transponder was sent back to my billing address in CA. It finally arrived this morning, almost three weeks after I signed up. My most excellent friends are putting it in the mail back to me, hopefully to arrive before I leave CT. The whole business has been one of the most frustrating and unpleasant of the whole trip.

Tomorrow I will explore Hartford and the surrounding area.
