This morning was devoted to taking care of personal tasks. I then met my friend B for lunch at Shaya , which is in the Touro district. While it felt slightly odd to have Pan-Israeli cuisine in New Orleans, the food was excellent. We spent a couple of pleasant hours catching up.
I had hoped to visit the Lafayette Cemetery No 1 , which was only a few minutes from our lunch location. It never occurred to me that a cemetery would close, never mind in the middle of the day. Apparently it was only open until 2:30, so I missed the opportunity. It was meant to be my main photo-op today, so I had to get creative if I wanted any images.
I had anyway planned to return to the Spotted Cat Music Club , so I dropped the car back at the hotel and walked the few blocks to the club. The thunderstorms this morning completely cleared the air and it was actually pleasant and cool, in the low 70s. The Chris Christy band was playing when I arrived, so I parked myself on the barstool closest to the band started shooting. It was a tough situation as the stage is right in front of a bright window and totally backlit. I did my best to capture a few images.
Tomorrow, weather permitting, I will take a swamp tour.
Since I could not photograph inside the cemetery, I shot the wall outside it.
