Nashville (sort of)

I had decided that I needed a nature outing to counter the SCENE that is downtown Nashville. My idea was to spend the Arctic morning catching up on administrative tasks (among other things, starting to book the back half of my trip) and head out in the afternoon when it had warmed up a bit.

Instead of a longer drive to one of several state parks, I drove out to the edge of Nashville to visit the Couchville Cedar Glade Class II Natural-Scientific State Natural Area. It was too early in the season to see any of the special and rare plant species they mention, but it was still a pleasant walk. Rain was predicted for about 6 PM. Unfortunately it came in at around 2 PM, so I only got an hour outside. But even that was restorative.

Tomorrow I cross over into Alabama.
