Gardiner (Yellowstone NP - Mammoth Hot Springs)

read the post
I made my first foray into Yellowstone NP this morning. The road that is open is only about 6 or so miles. A Pronghorn Antelope heard hangs to close to the entrance and several groups of elk can be seen on the hills. Of the inanimate features, the travertine terraces as Mammoth Hot Springs is the main attractions. A series of boardwalks and stairs lead to the various views. Of course, some parts are closed due to winter maintenance, but at least they provide a detour to get to the top. I walked the entire boardwalk (and I could definitely feel I was at 6K feet of elevation) and drove the road twice.

Tomorrow will be a repeat.
