Today was a bit rough because I was up so late last night editing the plethora of images I took at Blackwater. I did not get to sleep until after midnight, well after my ideal bedtime. So I planned a relatively light day.
I first drove over to the Pickering Creek Audubon Wildlife Preserve , which is only a short distance from my hotel. I have been to a number of Audubon preserves on this trip and they always seem to underwhelm. This morning the birds were just not interested in coming out. I heard plenty, but saw few. Anyway, songbirds tend to be difficult because they are small and hide in the brush. I frequently hear one that is so loud that it has to be a few feet away and can’t find the little bugger for the life of me. It was a pleasant morning, just not very productive.
I took the middle of the day to replenish my food supplies and do some laundry at the hotel. Those are the realities of this kind of a trip.
I ventured out again in the late afternoon to Oxford (not England, a small town on the West Coast of the Eastern peninsula.) It is only about 20 minutes from Easton. It was pretty quiet. The main draws in Oxford are the small museum and the creamery. People walking and biking around seemed to be enjoying the remote location. My default in these circumstances are reflections and black & white images.
Tomorrow I head further East to Ocean City, MD
