Denver

As promised, last night dipped down to -2 degrees Fahrenheit. By the afternoon, it had made it up all the way to double digits, but nowhere near freezing.

Today was a much-needed chill-out and recovery day. Looking for a low-key indoor activity, I visited the Denver Art Museum , a few minutes walk from my hotel. This is a very extensive museum, encompassing two buildings (linked by an indoor walkway) each with multiple floors and rooms. The exhibits are diverse, but there is a definite bent towards honoring indigenous art and culture.

I took a break from my museum visit for lunch with folk from one of our favorite forensic laboratories, Denver PD. It was a treat to reconnect and spend some time discussing my trip, some work topics, and life in general. One of the hosts at Leven was Jim. Jim’s goal in life appeared to be to convince us to purchase some of the very tempting-looking sweets available in the deli. Each of these cookies or brownies looked like it could feed four and still induce a sugar coma. We did not indulge, but I did purchase a snickerdoodle for Jim so that I could take his portrait with the cookie.

Back to the museum for another go after lunch. Then back to my room for a leisurely afternoon which also allowed me to catch up with some administrative tasks.

As promised, additional images from yesterday can be found in the "Denver and environs" gallery.
