This morning I drove South to Botany Bay located on Edisto Island . This ended up being a similar situation to Bulls Island. A short hiking path led to a beach with dead trees and driftwood. Again, the wildlife was in somewhat short supply. And I ended up again photographing the trees midday so, sorry for the repetition, they again ended up as black and white images. On my list is to come back and photograph these trees at the ends of the day.

I did learn a bit more about the history of the dead trees on the beach. Apparently they are the result of continuing erosion of the coastline. As the salt water encroaches, the trees die and eventually uproot and eventually break down to become driftwood.

I drove out to Mount Pleasant to have a late lunch/early dinner at Page’s Okra Grill . This is an unpretentious place that serves great food for reasonable prices. It had been recommended by one of the vendors at the SC State Farmer’s market and I noticed other recommendations as well.

Tomorrow I leave South Carolina and continue up the Atlantic Seaboard to North Carolina.
